Inn at Pelican Bay
We selected this inn for its rare sense of residential calm inside one of Naples’...
Fifth Avenue South is where Naples goes to be seen — a strip of galleries, boutiques and some thirty-five restaurants that draws the city's visitors and residents alike. The Inn on Fifth sits at its exact center, at 699 Fifth Avenue South, and solves the obvious problem of a downtown hotel by building upward instead of apologizing for the location: a private Club Level with its own rooftop pool, hot tub and sunbathing terrace, lifted entirely above the street noise. The effect, as Forbes Travel Guide notes in recommending the property, is a hotel that feels secluded while sitting smack in the middle of the action.
We chose the Inn on Fifth because it solves the central-Naples trade-off better than any alternative on the strip: guests get a five-minute walk to the city's best restaurants and galleries, then retreat to a genuinely private rooftop scene that most downtown hotels can't offer. The streamlined gray, black and cream interiors with red accents read as a real design hotel rather than a generic business property, and Club Level guests receive a 24-hour concierge, separate check-in and evening hors d'oeuvres — the kind of service layer that justifies the address.
Fifth Avenue South runs directly past the hotel's door, putting Ocean Prime and Truluck's downstairs and roughly thirty-five more restaurants within walking distance, from casual cafés to white-tablecloth dining. Cambier Park, with twelve lighted clay tennis courts, sits a few blocks away, and the hotel arranges golf course access nearby. The Naples Pier and the beach are a short drive or a longer walk west. It is the rare Naples hotel built for an evening on foot rather than a day spent driving between the beach and dinner.

The Club Level suites are the property's real differentiator: 32 classic suites, 8 premium suites with larger balconies, and two two-bedroom presidential suites running past 1,100 square feet, all with access to the private rooftop terrace, pool and hot tub. Breakfast, all-day snacks, top-shelf drinks and evening hors d'oeuvres come with Club Level access, turning what could be a standard downtown stay into something closer to a private club with a street address.
Ocean Prime, an 8,000-square-foot steak and seafood room, and Truluck's, which serves stone crab from its own fisheries between October and May, both operate directly on site — a dining pedigree most hotels would need to send guests off-property to match. Between the two restaurants and the roughly thirty-five others along Fifth Avenue South, guests can eat at a different serious table every night of a week-long stay without ever needing a car.
This is a downtown hotel, not a beachfront one: guests wanting to walk straight onto the sand should look toward Naples' beachfront properties instead, with the Gulf a short drive from here. Parking is valet, which suits the walkable location but adds a daily cost worth budgeting for. Club Level pricing runs well above the hotel's standard rooms, and the suites book out fast during Naples' winter high season, so travellers set on the rooftop access should reserve early.
